The Chapel of San Juan de Letrán is a Renaissance chapel , the historical importance of which lies in the fact that it is one of the few remaining parts of the 'religious complex' that was built to the left of what is now the Alameda Cristina after the reconquest of the city. .
Since it is the seat of the Brotherhood of Jesus Nazarene during Holy Week, on Good Friday at sunrise, it is also called the Chapel of Jesus Nazarene .
Founded in 1504, the chapel has been remodeled several times, but is one of the few examples that has survived in Albereda Cristina before its major remodeling in the 18th century.
The main altarpiece was carved in 1748 and comes from the Church of La Candelaria, which was demolished in 1852.
Despite its small size , its origin is linked to the chapel and hospital of Sant Sebastià , later changed to Sant Joan de Déu, since Juan Grande died in this hospital on June 3, 1600. Eventually it collapsed, leaving only the Chapel of San Juan de Letrán.
