The Triumphal Square is the heart of the medieval city , and here we find one of the many triumphs erected in the city in honor of the Archangel Saint Raphael, guardian of the city of Cordoba.
Created between 1765 and 1781 by the sculptor Miguel Verdiguier, the triumphal statue centralizes the viewpoint erected in the 17th century on the site where the Hospital de los Ahogados had stood since the thirteenth century
This space is presented as an open oasis amidst the colossal monumentality of the Seminary of San Pelagio, the Bishop's Palace and, of course, the Mosque-Cathedral of Cordoba.
