These impressive monuments date from the second quarter of the 1st century AD .
One of them has been completely reconstructed and part of the second. The Roman Mausolea of Córdoba are the most important Roman funerary structures in the city. Their cylindrical structure and their large dimensions, as well as their location at the entrance of the city next to the Corduba-Hispalis main road, allow us to appreciate the rich character of the families for whom they were built.
Due to the unusual typology in the peninsula, they may have been designed by an Italian architect, taking other mausoleums in the Imperial capital as a reference. The mausoleums were discovered in 1993 during archaeological excavations . Nowadays it is possible to visit the interior by appointment , where the Interpretation Center of the Funerary World is located.
