The Monument to Juan de Mesa is a monument dedicated to the Cordoba sculptor Juan de Mesa (1583-1627), which was inaugurated on February 18, 2005. It is the work of Sebastián Santos Calero and is located in the Plaza de San Lorenzo.
Juan de Mesa received part of his training in the workshop of the Sevillian Juan Martínez Montañés in Seville. In addition, the statue of Jesús del Gran Poder, known as the Lord of Seville, was created by him. It is located in the nearby Basilica of El Gran Poder.
The monument shows Juan de Mesa carving the image of the Gran Poder into a wooden basto.
