The Martínez Montañés Monument is a city sculpture located in the Plaza del Salvador , dedicated to the sculptor Juan Martínez Montañés (1568–1649), who settled in the city and became one of the most important exponents of the Sevillian school of sculpture .

After considering the possibility of placing it in the Plaza de San Lorenzo or in the Plaza de la Magdalena, it was finally placed in the Plaza del Salvador in 1923. In 1967 this monument was moved to a square next to the cathedral. In 1985 it was moved again to the Plaza del Salvador, which is its final location.

The statue, made of bronze, depicts the sculptor sitting with a gouge and a small image of the Immaculate Conception in his hands, in an attempt to represent the moment when he created the statue of La Cieguecita, one of his most representative to work.
