Church of San Alberto - Seville

The Church of San Alberto de Sevilla (Andalusia, Spain) was the church of the Monastery of San Alberto de Sicilia , of the Order of Carmen Calzado. This monastery had a school. It was founded in the 17th century . It was seized in 1835 and converted into a barracks . Since 1877 it has belonged to the Congregation of the Oratory of San Felipe Neri. They are mainly concerned with education.

There are currently no brotherhoods housed in the church, so the church is only known to local residents and little else. However, it used to house, among others, the brotherhoods of La Veracruz, La Quinta Angustia and the brotherhood of Caballeros Riojanos de Nuestra Señora de Valvanera.

The doorway has a semi-circular arch framed by voussoirs, with lateral recessed pilasters on which the entablature rests. Above this, in a curved, split pediment with a central niche, stands a stone image of the church's patron saint, made by Alonso Álvarez de Albarrán in 1627, accompanied by the coat of arms of the Carmelites . To the right of the entrance we see a ceramic altarpiece depicting San Felipe Neri, painted by Fernando Orce for the Pedro Navia factory in Triana in the 1950s-1960s. Two niches are located in an odd corner of the facade.

Inside, the church is in one nave with five sections , with a chancel at the foot and a presbytery three steps above the rest of the floor. There are side chapels on both sides, opened by semicircular arches. Above we see stands with wrought iron fencing.
