The military museum is located on the Plaza de España between the Puerta de Aragón and the North Tower.
It is heir to a large part of the collections of the former Maestranza de Artillería de Sevilla, whose 1897 Memorial refers to a "model room", considered the germ of the first artillery museum in the city of Seville. Over time, the collections have been expanded to include the collections of the Maestranza, those of the military pyrotechnic department and its training schools, the Royal Artillery Factory and those of disbanded military units, mainly from the Sevillian Square.
The museum opened on December 18, 1992 and was renovated in 2000 to give it the facilities that can be visited today. The renovation has made it possible to restore the original architectural conception of the designer of the Plaza de España complex, Aníbal González.
