Casa de las Columnas - Seville

The Casa de las Columnas must be located approximately on the site of the Chapel of the Virgen del Buen Aire , which no longer exists. The pastor Fernando Narbona had the Casa de las Columnas built around 1780 and placed a wooden cross in the garden, where the tabernacle used to be.

After its dismantling, the house was purchased together with other houses in Calle Betis by the Cuban Rafael González Abreu, promoter of the creation of the Hispanic-Cuban Institute of American History. In our century it became a rental house or corral and in 1973 the building was declared a "total ruin" and ordered to be evacuated. In 1984, the City Hall purchased the remains of the Casa de las Columnas from the Hispano-Cuban Institute of American History for 12 million pesetas and in March 1987, restoration work on the building was awarded and completed in the summer of 1989.

The building now houses the Civic Center of the Seville City Council, where several municipal offices and a public library are located.
