Zahara de la Sierra :
Already from afar we see that Zahara is beautifully situated on a hill with a castle that rises high above it . Parking at Cam. Nazari. We enter the village through the Puerta de la Villa . We see the Iglesia de Santa Maria de la Mesa and the Ermita San Juan de Letrán and pass the Torre del Reloj. At the Plaza de Lepanto we get a view of the Torre del Homenaje.
We now drive to Grazalema and stop on a mountain pass at an altitude of 1150 meters at the Mirador del puerto de las Palomas. We have a view over the Sierra de Grazalema with peaks over 1500 meters.
Grazalema:
Parking El Tajo in the hairpin bend of the A-372. We get a view of the peak of the Penon Grande and walk to the Plaza de España. There is the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Aurora . We leave the square to the right and pass a bronze statue representing the Toro de Cuerda , a ritual that is more than 2500 years old. A little further is the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación through which we go to the Mirador de Los Asomaderos for an astonishing view of the valley. We turn left further into the village and arrive at the Iglesia de San José and the Iglesia San Juan. We return via the Plaza de España to the parking.
We continue to Villaluenga del Rosario:
Park there to view the bullring above the village. The strange thing is that he leans against the rock wall. Via the Mirador del Cancho Castillo we arrive at the church of San Miguel. We walk on to the cemetery with its tower and neoclassical portal. We return via the main road and along the Fuente de los Caños we arrive at the Ermita de San Gregorio.
We continue to Ubrique and get another beautiful view from the Mirador El Cintillo y Aguas Nuevas.
Ubrique:
Park on Avenu Juan de la Rosa. We walk to the Ermita de San Pedro, continue to the Parroquia Nuestra Senora de la O until the Ermita de San Antonio. Back via the Plaza Francisco Fatou with the town hall and past the many leather goods manufacturers for which Ubrique is known.
Return through the white villages of El Bosque and Prado del Rey.
