1 Albacete - Alcaraz

This is the first stage of a route that runs from Albacete to Lisbon, so from eastern Spain to the western side of Portugal. The total route is about 750km long.
After leaving the city of Albacete, the first part follows a vía verde, a semi-paved cycling path. The path is flat and the roads afterwards go through the plain as well. However, from San Pedro, it begins to rise more and more to an altitude of 1180m, and the second part of the stage is quite challenging. Just before Alcaraz, the road descends steeply.
