A24 12 Segovia - Hoyorredondo

The twelfth stage is a fairly long and hilly ride of 159 km with 1487 Hm. We mainly ride in a southwest direction.

We start with a small descent and follow a larger road for about ten kilometers to a major interchange where we take a slightly smaller road to Valverde del Majano (km 12). It goes slightly uphill, and we ride on quiet roads through a sparsely populated agricultural area with many cornfields.

We descend a bit to the Rio Mores, which we cross after 22 km, after which it gradually climbs again to the plateau with much agriculture. We pass several small villages and arrive in the municipality of Sanchidrián after 47 km. There follows a long straight road across this slightly rolling plateau. After 56 km we again cross a small river and are at the lowest point of the day: Lp 853 m.

After 75 km we are in San Pedro del Arroyo, and then we gradually climb along long straight roads to a height of 1200 m. After 100 km we are in Gallego de Sobrinos. Here we leave the agricultural area and ride over rolling roads through wooded meadows, areas with scrub and rocks.

After 117 km we ride over the Rio Gamo, and now it gradually climbs in steps to Abdelalabad del Mirón (km 136), after which it climbs more steeply to the highest point of the day: Hp 1246 m after 142 km. We are now in the picturesque village of El Mirón.

Now there is a nice descent to Santa Maria del Berrocal, and after 153 km we cross the Corneja river. Now we follow a larger and busier road for a few kilometers that we leave at km 156 to ride to our stage location Hoyrredondo (la Carrera), a very small village with barely 75 inhabitants.
