Routing Walk - most beautiful
A fairly easy hike in the north of the Parque Natural Jandia. Fuerteventura is traversed here at its narrowest east-west distance. As this is a nature park, motorized traffic is prohibited outside the allowed roads (guided tours).
Due to the constructed highway, older route descriptions, both online and in hiking guides, are no longer accurate regarding the starting point. There is only 1 possible access, which is the only tunnel at Costa Calma under the highway, reachable via Calle Playa de la Jaqueta. In this dead-end street, there is ample parking available. This tunnel can also be reached on foot from Costa Calma.
After taking the underpass under the highway, the road goes left next to the highway. Shortly after the traffic sign (on the highway) indicating the turnoff to Costa Calma oeste 500m, there is a right turn towards the inland. Currently, there is a red post marking the turn. The road is sandy, and further on there are also stones on the path.
To the left in the distance, the wind farm can be seen. One continues to follow the sandy path. A little further left, there is a simple living container, while at the same time to the right, there is a low eroded rock. The path continues to the left next to the rock.
A little further on, a more hardened path comes alongside our hiking trail on the left. Let a path to the right lie a little further. Our hiking path turns left, but after 10m, one takes the turn to the right. Continue following this clear path. After about 50 minutes of walking, our hiking path crosses the straight GR 131. Leave the 2 less clear side paths on the left.
The path now descends slowly and crosses a path further on where motorized traffic can use. Along this last path, there are posts. We cross diagonally, and soon the sea is visible.
The hiking path arrives at the top of a valley, keep to the right while descending through the fine sand. Once on the stony plateau just above the sea, there is a view of the steeply eroded coast, both south and north.
The hike now continues to the right (north) with many beautiful eroded limestone formations. The hike ends ultimately at a rock in the sea, making further walking impossible.
The return journey is the same as the outward journey.
To avoid losing the correct path, it is best to use the RouteYou app as a GPS.
