Description by the author

This walk is part of a triptych of city guides in Seville who together visit the most important sights in the wide area around the center of Seville. Whoever does the 3 walks has seen Seville.

The walk starts at the parking lot at Puente de las Delicias . From there we walk to the cathedral and back.

We start through the Parque Maria Louisa passing the Plaza de Americas with the fountains of the pigeons, the Provincial Archaeological Museum , and the Royal Pavilion.

But of course the crescent-shaped Plaza de España, one of Seville's most famous squares with bridges over the canal reminiscent of the iconic waterways of Venice , is the highlight of this walk.

Along the Fuente de la Glorieta de San Diego we leave the park to walk a bit further through the Jardines de Murillo . The Fuente de Catalina de Ribera against a wall of the Alcázares is a beautiful bas-relief and a bit further on is the Columbus monument.

We now come to a part that overlaps with part 2 : Further on, in La Casa del Flamenco , a flamenco show is performed every evening in the courtyard. The Palacio de Alta mira was built with the aim of erecting a Mudejar palace-like building modelled on the Real Alcázar. Around the Plaza del Triunfo we find many important buildings, with the most important of course being the cathedral. All UNESCO world heritage.

Passing by the Archivo General de Indias we cross the Puente de S. Telmo to visit a part of the Triana district . Immediately we get a different view of the canal and the skyline of the city center.

The Chapel of the Sailors and the Iglesia Santa Ana on the square of the same name are the main attractions.

We return over the bridge and pass the Palacio de San Telmo, one of the most impressive buildings in Seville with its Ionic columns and distinctive facade.

On a roundabout stands a remarkable monument: the Monument to the navigator Juan Sebastián Elcano consists of a monumental complex that pays tribute to the first voyage around the world. The column is certainly worth a closer look. It shows scenes from the world voyage.

Be sure to check out the explanations of the sights once you are there. They explain what you will see.
