After cycling the Blue Carpet and subsequent stages in southern France along Montpellier, Toulouse, and Pau, the route goes through Spain (San Sebastián, Burgos) to Lisbon in Portugal.
The 17th stage (64km) goes from Cañaveral to Alcantara and ends at the campsite 5km north of Alcántara.
