This path approximately represents the route the porters followed to get the rocks for the church Santa María del Mar in Barcelona.
Some extra detours are included to get some great harbour views.
The porters of La Ribera carried stones from the quarries of Montjuïc to the church of Santa María del Mar.
This story is well described in the book of Ildefonsos Falcones. The construction of Santa Maria del Mar is the background for the best-selling novel "La catedral del mar" or "Cathedral of the Sea".
