GR-1.4. Stage 01. Roig Hostel-Congost de Mont-Rebei

Stage 01 of the GR-1.4, which runs from Hostal Roig to the Congost de Mont-Rebei, is a challenging route of 48.3 kilometers that traverses the stunning geography of Catalonia. This trail, classified as of extreme difficulty, offers hikers the opportunity to explore a diverse landscape, marked by a notable altitude of 1217 meters. Along this stage, walkers will have the chance to discover the Castle of Montllor, also known as the Castle of Hostal Roig or the Castle of the Moors. This Romanesque fortress was built to defend the Noguera pass in Pallars Jussà. Its history dates back to medieval times, and its strategic location offers a fascinating glimpse into the military past of the region. Moreover, the route passes near the Cellers-Llimiana Station, a railway stop located in the municipality of Castell de Mur, in the province of Lleida. Although it is not a tourist destination in itself, its presence adds a touch of modernity to a journey that is deeply rooted in history and nature.
