Description by the author

This route is an adaptation of the route created by Erik Ruesink from Reizende Renner Mallorca (formerly Forza Cycling Mallorca).

You cycle towards Sa Pobla, and then towards Campanet. There you take a bike path: motorists are warned several times not to exceed 70 km/h, and in many places, a maximum speed of 40 km/h is even permitted. At the village of Caimari, you dive into the Serra de Tramuntana: the mountainous area in the western part of Mallorca.

First, you climb the Coll de sa Batalla: 9.5 km of climbing (counted from Caimari) with 370 meters of elevation gain. You are close to Santuari de Lluc, a monastery and pilgrimage site. For this, the route makes a detour to visit this monastery complex: 2 km descent to get there, and then 2 km of climbing to get back to the main road towards Escorca. For a moment during the climb, you have a beautiful view of the monastery complex.

Now you remain at a high altitude (around 600 meters), but it goes up and down with the Coll dels Reis having a summit at 728 meters (and the foot from this side coming in at 550 meters). But then you descend 10 km to sea level to Port de Sa Calobra: it is a small bay with a beach and some hotels, located at the end of the gorge carved by the river Torrent de Pareis. The idyllic location exerts such an attraction on tourists that the road there can be busy with cars and coaches (the latter can cause quite a bit of congestion on the mountain pass) between 11 AM and 4 PM.

Port de Sa Calobra is a dead end, which means you now have to climb 10 km to the summit of Coll dels Reis. You cycle towards Coll de Sa Batalla, but just before the summit, you turn left for a small stretch to climb to the top of Col de Femenia. The location of this pass also has an advantage: there is usually little traffic on the pass road. A long descent that is not technical takes you into Pollença and at one point gives you a view of the sea. Via quiet country roads, you cycle to Alcudia. Then you have about 8 more kilometers along the busy through road to Platja de Muro.
