N-340 - Carretera del Mediterraneo

Complete route of the N-340 road, also kinown as the Carretera del Mediterraneo. The N-340 is the longest highway of the Iberian Peninsula with a length of approximately 1325 km. That will take us from Barcelona to Cadiz through the entire Mediterranean coast, crossing 4 autonomous communities, 10 provinces and more than 150 municipalities. The N-340 has been unfolded and converted into a highway in some sections, so sometimes we will have to use it. The layout of this road is also called the old "Via Augusta", built during the Roman occupation of the Iberian Peninsula, which ran the entire Mediterranean coast from Gibraltar to Barcelona. For many, it is the Spanish equivalent of US Route 66. We must bear in mind that it is a backbone so we will find a lot of traffic: both trucks and cars, so we must take extreme precautions.
(the use of GPS is recommended to follow the route, which, although well signposted, is very long and sometimes twisted so we can get lost.)
