Description by the author

Long day hike from Nerin, near Anisclo, to the fantastic faja de la Pardina, returning via the equally wonderful faja Malpasé. Just past Nerin, right before the barrier, there is a small parking area where you can leave the car. To reach the Vale de la Pardina, there are 2 options, either you follow the dirt road, or you take the hiking path to Cuello Arenas. The 1st option is longer but much less steep and occasionally there is some shade, which is not immediately a disadvantage in very hot weather. The Vale de la Pardina is a side canyon of the Vale de Anisclo, the hiking path along it runs like a gutter high above the canyon. Strangely enough, the route is not very frequented, making the actual hiking trail not always very clear. At the beginning, you have to wade through a sea of nettles and tall grass; after that, it gets much better, and at crucial points, there are signposts. At the end of the Pardina, you must overcome a vertical passage to reach Mallata Candon. There are staples in the rocks, and there is also a steel cable to pull yourself up. The faja Malpasé path is entirely based on feeling; occasionally some tracks and sporadic stone men provide direction. Bring enough water, as there is absolutely nothing to be found along the way; in early summer, there is some meltwater here and there, but don't count on it, it is there today, not tomorrow.
