CB (Costa Brava): Route 12

This is a long route, with a significant amount of climbing. Leave Figueres to the Northeast, through Peralada with its castle and wineries, into the Alberes, the foothills of the Pyrenees. Once you hit La Jonquera, the 13km climb up to the French border starts, via Agullana and La Vajol. The descent to Figueres is gorgeous, with views over the lake at Darnius, and a fascinating landscape of low pre-mountain vegetation through Boatella and Cistella.
