CDTE (Costa Daurada / Terres de L'Ebre): Route 3
This is an expert-level route, for cyclists in very good shape. It is long, at almost 200km, and though it has only one climb, it is 22km long and gains over 1,400m. The road is almost flat to Tortosa, the city where the mammoth ascent to Montcaro begins. The climb starts smoothly but once it begins to have hairpin turns there are several severe ramps of up to 14% gradient. Tortosa looks very small below us, and there is a panoramic view of the Ebro River.
