Bluebeard is a fairy tale figure who lived near the French city of Nantes. Bluebeard told his women that they could see anything except one room in his castle in Tiffauges. If they could not restrain their curiosity, they were slain and hung on hooks.
His story was first recorded by Charles Perrault in the 17th century. The story is based on a 15th century nobleman Gilles de Rais who lived in a castle of the town Tiffauges.
The real story was still worse. Rais was a child abuser and abused at least 140 children, cut them in pieces, and abused them after their death.
He was also condemned by the church for the exercising alchemy aimed at making gold. He also fighted with Jeanne d'Arc in the liberation of Orleans, besieged by the British.
