Stenay

According to a report in the French press on January 22, 1981, the secret order "Priory of Sion" was still very much alive and a convention was held in Blois, France, on January 17, 1981. There, Pierre Plantard de Saint-Clair was said to have been elected as the new grandmaster of the order.

Pierre Plantard de Saint-Clair was claimed to be a direct descendant of Dagobert II and thus related to the Merovingians. His lineage was purportedly demonstrated by the parchments of Queen Blanche of Castile. These parchments were discovered in 1891 by Abbé Saunière in his church in Rennes-le-Château.

Pierre Plantard also descends directly from the owner of the destroyed castle Barberie in Sainte-Colombre, but he is linked to many more places that are directly or indirectly associated with the "Order of Sion." For instance, he owns land in the vicinity of Rennes-le-Chateau and Rennes-les-Bains (the mountain Blanchefort), and he owns the ground where the church of St. Dagobert used to stand in Stenay.

He was also said to be a personal friend of Charles De Gaulle.

During an interview in 1979 with the BBC, he stated that a road was being paved for the return of a monarchy in France.
