The famous pilgrimage chapel by Le Corbusier in Ronchamp may be the icon of modernist architecture, but it has not prevented a monstrosity of a visitor center from being planted at the foot of the chapel. If Le Corbu were to see it, he would turn in his grave more than once and especially curse loudly. The thing clashes with the slightest bit of good taste and simultaneously reveals that the beautiful grounds on which La Chapelle Notre-Dame du Haut stands - incredibly but true - are privately owned. Access is therefore requested, albeit only for 2. The chapel itself is a place of pilgrimage, first for churchgoers, but also and especially for culture and architecture lovers.
