The Col des Pradeaux is a mountain pass in the south of the Monts du Forez. The pass road, the D996, crosses the Monts du Forez from west to east. The road forms a more direct connection between Ambert and Saint-Anthème than the road over the Col des Supeyres which is more north and higher. The pass road forms an important connection between the valleys of the Ance and those of the Dore and has been known since Merovingian times.
