The Jean-Frédéric-Oberlin Museum – commonly known as the Oberlin Museum – is located in the municipality of Waldersbach. It is dedicated to the life and work of the Alsatian pastor Jean-Frédéric Oberlin.
Situated on a verdant hillside in the upper Bruche Valley, in Waldersbach, the village of Ban de la Roche where he served his ministry for 59 years, this institution – one of the most well-known Protestant museums in France – reveals through its abundant collections and original museography the thirst for knowledge and the eclectic interests of a strong personality of the Age of Enlightenment, both a visionary preacher, a pioneer of pedagogy, and a passionate advocate for social progress.
