A famous son of Tarbes is General Foch. He became famous in World War I and you might also know him from the square in Leuven that was once called Maarschalk Fochplein. There was a long debate because Marshal Foch was said to have caused the deaths of many soldiers in World War I. The name of the square in Leuven has since been changed to Rector De Somerplein.
