Saint-Maxire is a French commune with 1,306 inhabitants in the Deux-Sèvres department in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. It belongs to the Niort arrondissement and the Autize-Égray canton. Saint-Maxire is located about eight kilometers north of the center of Niort. The Sèvre Niortaise forms the southeastern boundary of the commune. Saint-Maxire is surrounded by the neighboring communes of Faye-sur-Aydin to the north and northwest, Sainte-Ouenne to the north and northeast, Échiré to the east, Sciecq to the south, Saint-Rémy to the southwest, and Villiers-en-Plaine to the west.
