Le Tholy is a French commune located in the Vosges department in the Grand Est region. It is situated in the Vosges mountains in the Cleurie valley between Remiremont and Gérardmer. It is part of the Gérardmer Hautes Vosges community of communes. It has approximately 1,600 inhabitants, known as Cafrancs. It is divided into four sectors: the Center, Bonnefontaine, Bouvacôte, and le Rain Brice. The center of the village is easily recognizable by its houses built on the mountainside and its remarkable bulbous steeple that dominates the valley.
The production of cheeses by the Bongrain-Gérard cheese factory is the main economic activity of the village. Tourism and woodwork are two other important sectors. Textiles, once an important activity, have now completely disappeared.
