Dannemois is a French commune located forty-six kilometers southeast of Paris in the Essonne department in the Île-de-France region.
This small village in the southern part of the department, on the border with Seine-et-Marne, is situated in the heart of the Gâtinais French regional natural park in the École valley and was an important site for sandstone extraction in the 19th century. In the 1960s, it experienced its moment of glory when Claude François decided to make the property containing the communal mill his second home. The small village cemetery today hosts, among others, the singer's grave.
