Quarante ; Occitan: Cranta) is a commune in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region in southern France. Quarante is a hilltop medieval village from the Gallo-Roman era, just one mile from the Canal du Midi, five miles from Capestang, 17 miles from Béziers, and 25 miles from the Mediterranean Sea. The closest train station and regional airport is in Béziers, and 35 miles to the north is the city of Carcassonne, famous for its medieval citadel. International airports nearby include Carcassonne, Montpellier, and Toulouse.
