Rambouillet is mainly known for the expansive forest of Rambouillet and for the Château de Rambouillet. This castle dates back to the fourteenth century and is currently an official residence of the French president. It is also often the setting for international summits and state visits.
In the castle, the Rambouillet Agreement was drawn up by NATO in February 1999.
Other attractions in Rambouillet include; La Bergerie nationale, Le Palais du Roi de Rome, which has been a historical monument since 1993 and hosts temporary exhibitions with very diverse themes.
