Gauriac is a French commune with 730 inhabitants in the département of Gironde in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region. The commune belongs to the arrondissement of Blaye and is part of the canton of L’Estuaire. The inhabitants are called Gauriacais. Gauriac is located about 25 kilometers north-northeast of Bordeaux at the estuary of the Garonne River. The municipal area includes part of the river island Île du Nord (also known as Île Verte) in the Garonne. Gauriac is surrounded by the neighboring communes of Villeneuve to the north and northwest, Saint-Ciers-de-Canesse to the north and northeast, Comps to the east, Bayon-sur-Gironde to the south and southeast, Margaux-Cantenac to the southwest, and Soussans to the west.
