The Aude (Atax in Latin) is a river in the south of France. It springs from the Eastern Pyrenees and flows into the Mediterranean Sea in Les Cabanes-de-Fleury near Narbonne.
The river passes through two departments of the Languedoc-Roussillon region: the Pyrénées-Orientales with the towns of Matemale and Formiguères, and the Aude department with the towns of Axat, Quillan, Couiza, Limoux, Carcassonne, Trèbes, and Narbonne.
The main tributaries are the Galbe, the Bruyante, the Rébenty, the Aiguette, the Sou, and the Orbieu.
