The artificial lake of Verney was built as part of the hydroelectric development of Grand' Maison. The most powerful dam in France, it was commissioned in 1985 and consists of 2 water reservoirs. The Verney reservoir collects water that has already passed through the turbines of the Grand' Maison plant, which you will see at the bottom of the valley, before starting the ascent to Vaujany.
