Musée de Flandre

The Musée de Flandre is located on the Grand Place in Cassel, in one of the region?s most beautiful Flemish buildings, the Hôtel de la Noble Cour, which has been listed as a historic monument. Unique in Europe, the museum aims to show the diversity and richness of Flemish art from the 15th century to the present day.

The thematic presentation of the permanent collection encourages dialogue between ancient art and contemporary creation. Visitors will discover works of various kinds (drawings, prints, paintings, sculptures, etc.), proof of the extraordinary inventiveness of Flemish artists. The tour is regularly enriched by new acquisitions, and now also includes some twenty 16th- and 17th-century works on loan from the Musée de Beaux-Arts de Valenciennes.

The Musée de Flandre also designs original temporary exhibitions. Four of these have been awarded the prestigious Exhibition of National Interest label by the French Ministry of Culture. Accessible to all and Tourism & Handicap accredited, this cultural facility of the Département also offers family events, conferences, shows and concerts in the heart of the collections throughout the year.
