Of the former abbey of Saint-Médard remains only the pre-Romanesque crypt, the oldest monument of Soissons, datable to the ninth century. Composed of a dozen chapels served by a central corridor, it housed the tomb of Bishop Saint-Médard as well as those of Clotaire and Sigebert, son and grandson of Clovis.
