Illies [ili] is a French commune located in the Nord department, in the Hauts-de-France region. It is part of the European Metropolis of Lille. The climate characterizing the commune is classified, in 2010, as "degraded oceanic climate of the Central and Northern plains," according to the typology of climates in France, which then included eight major climate types in the metropolitan area. In 2020, the commune was categorized under the type "altered oceanic climate" in the classification established by Météo-France, which now includes only five major climate types in the metropolitan area. It is a transitional zone between the oceanic climate, the mountain climate, and the semi-continental climate. The temperature differences between winter and summer increase with the distance from the sea. Rainfall is lower than along the coast, except near the hills.
