Near the chapel of St. Martin, we discover the Cistercian abbey of Saint-Pons, founded by Dame Garcende in 1205 of which she was the first abbess. Nuns of the order of Citeaux lived there cloistered in poverty and prayer until 1427. This majestic building is the most complete example of a female monastery. This completely renovated abbey belongs to the General Council. The abbey is open at certain times of the year on request and on Heritage Days.
