The Jardin de l'Évêché is the former pleasure garden of the episcopal palace of Castres in the Occitanie region of France. Built at the end of the seventeenth century by André Le Nôtre, it is a French-style garden combining boxwood embroidered and English-style beds. Michel Tubeuf, bishop of Castres until 1682, had the episcopal palace of Castres built by Jules Hardouin-Mansard, from 1666 to 1673. A first garden was then mentioned, bordered by the fortified walls of the city, which was destroyed in 1676. From this point on, sources differ as to who commissioned the current French garden but agree on the fact that it was designed by André Le Nôtre. Tradition has it that he did not even visit the site, but used the data he had on the organization of the buildings and the grounds.
