The Lovers' Bridge is a walkway located at the edge of Lake Annecy at the entrance to the Vassé Canal; its official name is "Public Garden Footbridge" but the residents of Annecy have long renamed it "Lovers' Bridge." It connects the Pâquier to the Gardens of Europe where lovers used to go to find refuge and tranquility. The urban legend related to this bridge says that two lovers kissing in its center will be united for life. Another source mentions that the Lovers' Bridge owes its name to its former use as a meeting place for the paid loves of prostitutes. Today, this bridge remains a very busy passage in an absolutely romantic setting with beautiful views of the city, the canals, and the lake.
