Built by the duke Louis of Orleans at the end of XIVe century, the castle of Pierrefonds is in ruins when Napoleon III decides to entrust the rebuilding of it to Eugene Viollet-le-Duc. Nearly thirty years are necessary to the rehabilitation of the castle of Pierrefonds and if Eugene Viollet-le-Duc remains faithful to the Gothic style of origin, he will take some liberties with the archaeological truth. But the result is impressive: a drawbridge, eight imposing defensive towers, a dungeon... for a magical visit to the land of knights at the edge of the forest of Compiègne!
