On the outside facade, the church has a remarkable portal built between 1517 and 1548, by the Champenois architect Jehan Laurens and composed of three porches. The most important tympanum located in the center illustrates the Annunciation, the one on the right represents the Resurrection, and the one on the left represents evil. The tympana and architraves are sculpted and contain seven pendent stones where small statues of the Apostles are embedded. You can also see friezes in the Second Renaissance style and gargoyles. The completion of this facade probably dates from around 1565, as it features the emblem of the first Gonzague Duke of Rethel representing a radiant sun under an arch.
