The castle of Castelnaud is a medieval castle located about 10 kilometers from Sarlat, in Castelnaud-la-Chapelle. The oldest mention of the castle dates back to the thirteenth century. It played a role in the crusade against the Cathars and the Hundred Years' War with England. After the Middle Ages, the castle was gradually abandoned, and from the French Revolution, it became a ruin. The castle has a museum that displays many aspects of medieval warfare, such as real catapults, swords, and armor.
