His name is a tribute to the protector of the city. Saint-Georges is represented on one of the faces of the gate (on the country side). Jean Richier and Simon Drouin are the two sculptors who worked on the remarkable decoration of the building. Linked to the construction of the Ville Neuve, it was built between 1606 and 1619 in the Renaissance style. Its remarkable restoration dates from 2013
It was saved from destruction thanks to the intervention of Victor Hugo.
