The Ney barracks was built from 1833 to 1842 by Colonel Firmin-Claude Parnajon. It forms a "U", of 170 meters by 95 meters, open on the Place de la République, former Place Royale. In 1854, the brothers Antoine Husson, Francois-Desiré Husson, and Gustave Hennequin, carved the trophies of arms in high relief at the entrance of the barracks.
