Chapelle Cemetery is the burial place of 622 British soldiers, 360 of whom are identified. The other 262 remain unknown.
Special memorials have been erected there for 17 soldiers presumed to be buried there and for 4 soldiers buried in the Holnon Communal Cemetery whose graves were destroyed by a shell.
The soldiers resting in this cemetery, created after the armistice, were killed in 1917 and 1918 during battles that took place west of Saint-Quentin.
The most notable of these battles was the one that took place in the village and Holnon Wood between the British 6th Division and the German army from 14 to 19 September 1918.
