The church of Abbécourt, according to tradition, owes its origin and its name to a farm built by an abbot of Saint-Médard de Soissons who owned the territory; hence its name: Abbatis Curia or Curtis, court or farm of the abbot. The abbey of Saint-Médard de Soissons having been founded around 560, we can admit that the origin of Abbécourt goes back to the VIIth century. However, the first information collected on the history of this village is not prior to the 9th century. The church was rebuilt after 1918, but still preserves some parts of the old church destroyed during the Great War. It has a magnificent heart, with stained glass windows dating from about 1929, created by Jacques Gruber.
