The Pene or Peene, also known as Pe(e)nebeek (French: Peene Becque), is a river that rises in the north of France. It flows past Ochtezele, Arneke, Ledringem and Wormhout, and then flows into the Yser west of Wilder.
The French villages of Noordpene and Zuidpene are named after the river.
On April 11, 1677, a battle took place on the Pene, near Kassel; the third Battle of Kassel, also known as the Battle of the Pene.
Length : 23.9 km, rises in Montagnard at an altitude of 86m. Has a 2° source around Sainte-Marie-Cappel in Dekkers Veld at 43m altitude. Monding is located in Wormhout at a height of 6m, around Hooghe Huis where the Peenebeek flows into the Yser.
