A member of the Vauban Major Sites Network , Mont - Dauphin is on the UNESCO World Heritage List .
Founded in 1693 by Vauban, Mont-Dauphin is above all a stronghold designed to lock access to the valleys of the Upper Durance and Guil.
Mont-Dauphin has the peculiarity of having only one adjacent commune, indeed the town of Eygliers goes around and includes it. The town of Mont-Dauphin forms an enclave in the town of Eygliers.
